Get Rich Quick!

,

Give us this day our daily bread. A recipe for riches. The Bible cookbook tells me so. I saw a sign. Not far from my home home. Down the street. Around the corner. A marquee. Outside the Lutheran Church. Get rich quick, it read. Count your blessings, it read. Pay attention. Mary Oliver wrote. Instructions for living. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it. Pay attention. Pay attention. Pay attention. Be astonished. Be astonished. Be astonished. The Bible tells me so. Our daily bread. Pay attention. Be astonished. Count your blessing. Pennies from Heaven. Blessings. Early every morning in summer I walk around our backyard admiring the plants and my dog Freddy walks with me. The blessings of the hydrangeas. The clematis. The dill. The eggplant. The jalapenos. The tomatoes. The lettuce. The basil and cilantro. The parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. The butterfly bush. The blue thistle. The zinnias. The Russian Sage. The coral bells. The coneflowers. Such blessings, beauty and abundance. Thank You God. One morning I sat in the garden waiting for the hummingbird to appear. Suddenly like the bark of my dog. How the appearance startles me. As does the beauty of the butterfly. I sit and I stare. And I wait. These are my angels I believe. Blessings. I am rich. I am listening. Every summer day the angels visit and in the winter the cardinal and the bluejay come to the garden. This is where I travel. This is my journey. And the next day. And the next. A breeze whispers. The garden chimes ring. A dove sings. This is a heaven on earth. The colorful zinnias sway in the wind. A solitary sparrow drinks at the garden fountain. On a summer day. I am blessed. With beauty and a loving wife. Miracles are taking place in my life everyday. I look at my life and acknowledge the blessing that are there for me right now. I am rich. And you? Are you counting your pennies from Heaven? Giving thanks for your daily bread? Counting your blessings?
