Great Food & Atmosphere at Papps Bar & Grille

Papps Bar & Grill in Westfield, MA at Barnes Munical Airport is a place I have been wanting to visit for quite some time.

On Saturday night Susan and I had a great meal there.

We started with cocktails. An Old Fashioned for me and a Pinot Noir for Susan. Our server, Megen, was outstanding throughout our visit; attentive with a smile.

Then we had calamari which was delivered by Chef John Slattery. We told him this was our first visit and he welcomed us and made us feel right at home. And the calamari was outstanding! Tender. Light. And crispy! Served with a delicious tomato sauce.

Here is Susan feeling rather happy:

Susan had a “Salmon Burger.” She is stickler for delicious salmon and she said her “burger” was excellent; it was a salmon fillet.

I had the Pulled Pork dinner which was outstanding. Flavorful and just a hint of heat. I won’t even bother writing about the homemade steak fries and homemade coleslaw. Let’s just say “WOW!”

And as we ate our dinner, look to what our wondering eyes appeared right outside our window!

Next time we visit we plan to have a few cocktails on the rooftop deck. And maybe enjoy dinner up there, too!

We loved it so much we would go back today but I am making meatballs and homemade tomato sauce! Obviously, Susan and I recommend Papps Bar & Grill!

The Artistry of Lexi Weege

On Saturday night, Susan and I heard a powerful and original jazz/blues musician/singer/songwriter at Raven Hollow Winery, a beautiful outdoor venue a few miles from where we live. Her name is Lexi Weege and if you get the chance to see her perform, DO! Think Billie Holliday, Tori Amos, and Amy Winehouse and you get the idea.

OH MY GOSH!

SO DELICIOUS!!!

Pasta with Shrimp and Lobster

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted and oiled water to a boil. Cook linguine at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes; drain. But be sure to save 1/4 cup of the pasta water.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat; sauté  onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes in hot oil until onion is golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir white wine into pan; cook and stir until wine is absorbed, 2 to 4 minutes.
  3. Stir shrimp and lobster and shrimp into pan to warm; about 2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and stir cooked linguine into shrimp mixture. Stir peas, corn and pesto sauce into shrimp-linguine mixture; add the 1/4 cup pasta water and cook and stir until linguine absorbs the liquid, about 5 minutes. Top servings with Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.
